Spadola and Sons is a company with over forty years’ experience in the sector of quality meat production and the trading in live and slaughtered animals (bovines, pigs and sheep). We operate in a territory (the province of Ragusa) with a strong tradition in zootechnics, and over the years we have become a reference point for operators in this sector in our area.
The organization uses the most sophisticated technological systems in order to guarantee maximum safety and traceability of the products. Our system of flexible production enables us to guarantee a variety of meat cuts according to requirements, and satisfy the needs of our clients.

In order to valorise the excellence of local products, the company, thanks to investments that have enabled it to have control of the entire production chain, over time has specialised in the production of Sicilian beef. All our livestock, born and raised in Sicily, live in a comfortable environment with extensive green areas, where they are fed on natural feed, and undergo strict controls that certify their state of health. Our farms combine the most up-date technology with respect for the animals and nature.

THE CATTLE BREEDING FARM

All our animals are born and raised in extensive green areas which provide for their comfort, in full compliance with current health, hygiene and legal requirements.
The breeder, by means of strict daily controls, constantly monitors the animals’ health, ensuring total respect for their freedom of movement and welfare. Moreover, the utilization of modern structures and technology assures that the animals, along with leading a healthy life, are fed on wholesome and completely natural feed.

SLAUGHTER

The livestock, once identified and accompanied by the necessary health records, are then put through further examination by the veterinary surgeon, who certifies the suitability of the meat for human consumption.
In a sterile and ultra-modern environment, the animals are slaughtered and butchered, in full respect of current health, hygiene and legal requirements. This phase combines technical expertise, the result of over fifty years’ experience in animal slaughter, with the most up-to-date technology in the sector.

MEAT PREPARATION

The sectioned meat is taken to the transformation plants where it undergoes thorough checks that verify freshness and suitability for consumption.
Three phases: boning, portioning and packaging, during which the meat is again controlled and inspected, to assure that hygiene safety, quality and correct temperatures of the meat fully comply with standards.

MARKETING

The best meat, after receiving final approval by the official veterinary surgeon as to its suitability for human consumption, is given the health authority’s stamp and is now ready to be sold. The product, with the label certifying its geographical origin and total traceability by the consumer, is now put onto the Sicilian market (wholesalers, large supermarket chains, butchers’, restaurants and catering), and above all, onto European markets, reaching France, Holland and other countries north of the Alps.

QUALITY AND TRACEABILITY OF BEEF

Traceability enables the consumer to reconstruct the whole food chain of an animal, an animal feed or a substance, through the phases of production, transformation and distribution.

A CONTROLLED AND CERTIFIED FOOD CHAIN

Thanks to the certification of the food chain, the consumer is able to trace back all the phases that make up the life cycle of the product: raw material used, production stages, transformation processes and marketing.
Scelta Iblea tags the beef from animals slaughtered at less than 24 months of age produced by our food chain that guarantees controls and quality.
This is recognisable from the enclosure that accompanies the sides of beef and which is displayed on the counters of the sales points.
